Ponytail? Screaming Females? Mittenfields? Playing at AU? For FREE?
IT IS TRUE.
Ponytail hails from Baltimore and will play this year's SXSW. They sound like what would happen if you took a ball of energy (Molly Siegel) and let it fingerpaint all over your dorm room for a whole set. What I mean to say is that they sound like they're going to be a helluva live act.

Screaming Females come from New Brunswick, New Jersey and just so happens to also be fronted by an energetic female. The rest of the band is not comprised of females. That is why they are "Screaming Females" not "THE Screaming Females." They sound like a more controlled, melodic release of the aforementioned ball of energy. There is still fingerpainting on the walls, though.

Mittenfields is minimalist and ambient, a welcome relief from the insane high of SF and Ponytail. You can literally feel your body relaxing to the sound. Kind of like a long summer night spent in one of those swinging chairs on a front porch after a long summer day. With a nice summer drink. With nice summer friends.
