Birthday Wishes & Guest Hosts

Great Show today, in my own opinion at least. Although, I suppose I am the controller of the media on this blog so I can make that a fact. Fact: Great Show Today.

It was Katie's birthday. That's exciting. She is twenty years old, that like two decades of life. Unfortunately, she was not in the studio, but on a train back from her land of Allentown. She was interviewing all weekend for jobs with the local government and local media, as well as creating her own civil society organization. Good for her. This does mean, however that Katie is in fact going home for the summer. TDR Jams will be down a DJ.

That statement has good news and bad news to it. Obviously, the bad news is Katie is going away. The good news is that TDR Jams is not. Next week will be the last show of the semester and then a few week hiatus, but then TDR Jams will be back for the summer. I am very excited to continue the show throughout the summer and looking forward to experimenting with some new things in the studio. Also with any luck, the show will have a better time slot than Monday mornings.

Finally, thanks to Gabby for guest hosting today. She had a good time from what I presume, and she got to play a bloc of music too. Thanks Gabby, and we at TDR Jams hope you remain an avid listener and fan.

Oh No!!!

Katie, unfortunately, speaks the truth. TDR Jams is not a happening event this week because of the unworkingness of WVAU. The sound board does have pretty lights on it, but I figured there would be a problem when I came in and the automator wasn't on. You see, the automator is the device that is supposed to play music when there is no DJ in the studio. I suppose that it makes no difference whether or not the automator is working if people cannot log on to the show.

Regardless, that was the point when I realized something might be wrong. Something that was confirmed when I tried to play CDs and talk into the mic. Both of these actions were fails. Fortunately plugging my computer in has made music happen in the studio, although it appears that it is not being broadcast. This has given me some liberty to play stuff I could not get away with on TDR Jams, like Coney Island Shuffle by Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, a song from a Eastern European folk band I met in London, and Mogwai's twenty minute long "My Father, My King".

So Katie and I have been hanging out in the studio, playing music you cannot hear. We did take a break to go to TDR, but don't worry, we did have music playing at that point (the aforementioned 20 minute song). I think that I will post the playlist for this "Lost Show" at some point.

The truly unfortunate thing is that we didn't get to do our special features. Next week we will, we promise. Katie will play a R&B block and I will play an indie one. We will give you comments from TDR and the highlights of the weeks menu. For this week, as a little apology, and a service I am going to post TWO comments from the Dalai Lama:
