TDR - Oh the Adventures!

TDR: Oh, going there is always some kind of interesting adventure. Today, my TDR Jams co-host and I ventured to the room of so many of American University's delicacies. We could tell right away that it was going to be a good lunch at TDR. A number of seniors were loitering around the entrance asking to bum a meal swipe off of underclass like ourselves with meal plans. Of course, we obliged. TDR is normally a fun experience for one reason or another, but for seniors that haven't experienced it in many months, it is truly exciting. I suggest to all you readers that if you ever are asked by an upper-classperson for a swipe to happily oblige. TDR is an experience that some only truly cherish if they have been deprived.

The good karma Katie and I received for our good deed was a very enjoyable TDR experience. We grabbed a seat at the top tables with a good view of the proceedings. We had the pleasure of witnessing a TDR bandit being caught red handed. I am not necessarily opposed to taking things from TDR. Some even suggest that it is students "God Given Right to Steal from TDR". However, I do suggest that if you plan on taking your meal with you, that you use some discretion. The bandit that was caught was loading his bag with bagels and milk cartoons at a table in plain sight of everyone. Unfortunately, I was a bit too far away to hear the actual details of the 5 minute conversation with two top level TDR employees, but I am sure that it would have been a conversation to savor (I am afraid the tilapia for lunch today does not fall into that category). The student must have had impressive negotiating skills, because by conversations end he packed his bag and made off with a package of bagels and his milk cartons. If Katie or I can track down this skilled negotiator we will bring him into the studio for an interview on how to jedi mind trick TDR workers.

TDR truly got silly after this young man's departure. Within the span of on walk to the cookie counter, the tray conveyor belt collapsed, a girl fell and managed to keep the food on the tray (an impressive skill for sure), and a TDR employee was wandering around with a sheathed knife of about 12 inches.I really cannot properly respond to these events. There is definitely something ridiculously wonderful about that place.

Oh yeah, if you want to read a blog about the Somali American Community Association (because I know you do) check out my other blog: www.maendeleonyumbani.blogspot.com
I work with the organization and it really is a lot of fun. The blog is for a class so it is required to be a bit more serious than this one. That is my shameless promotion. Thanks!
